For if a man that hath a goldun ring, and in a feire clothing,
cometh in youre cumpany,
and a pore man entrith
in a foul clothing,
and if ye biholden in to hym
that is clothid with clere clothing,
and if ye seie to hym,
Sitte thou here wel;
but to the pore man ye seien,
Stonde thou there,
ethir sitte vndur the stool of my feet;
whether ye demen not anentis you silf,
and ben maad domesmen of wickid thouytis?
Yf ther come in to yor copany
a ma wt a golde rynge and in goodly aparell,
& ther come in also a poore man
in vyle raymet,
& ye haue a respecte to him
yt weareth the gaye clothinge
& saye vnto hi:
Sit thou here i a good place,
& saye vnto ye poore,
stonde thou there
or sit here vnder my fote stole:
are ye not parciall in youre selues,
and haue iudged after euyll thoughtes?
For if there come into your company
a man with a golde ring, and in goodly apparell,
and there come in also
a poore man in vile raiment,
And ye haue a respect to him
that weareth the gaie clothing;
and say vnto him,
Sit thou here in a goodly place,
and say vnto the poore,
Stand thou there,
or sit here vnder my footestoole,
Are yee not partiall in your selues,
and are become iudges of euill thoughts?
For yf there come into your companie
a man wearing a golde ryng, clothed in goodly apparell,
and there come in also
a poore man in vile rayment:
And ye haue a respect to hym
that weareth the gay clothyng,
and say vnto hym,
sitte thou here in a good place:
& say vnto the poore,
stande thou there,
or sitte here vnder my footestoole:
Are ye not partiall in your selues,
and are made iudges of euyll thoughtes?
For if there come vnto your assembly
a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel,
and there come in also
a poore man, in vile raiment:
And yee haue respect to him
that weareth the gay clothing,
and say vnto him,
Sit thou here in a good place:
and say to the poore,
Stand thou there,
or sit here vnder my footstoole:
Are yee not then partiall in your selues,
and are become iudges of euill thoughts?
For if there come into your synagogue
a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing,
and there come in also
a poor man in vile clothing;
and ye have regard to him
that weareth the fine clothing,
and say,
Sit thou here in a good place;
and ye say to the poor man,
Stand thou there,
or sit under my footstool;
are ye not divided in your own mind,
and become judges with evil thoughts?
For if there come into your synagogue
a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing,
and there come in also
a poor man in vile clothing;
and ye have regard to him
that weareth the fine clothing,
and say,
Sit thou here in a good place;
and ye say to the poor man,
Stand thou there,
or sit under my footstool;
Do ye not make distinctions among yourselves,
and become judges with evil thoughts?
Suppose a man comes into your meeting
wearing a gold ring and fine clothes,
and a poor man in filthy old clothes
also comes in.
If you show special attention
to the man wearing fine clothes
and say,
“Here’s a good seat for you,”
but say to the poor man,
“You stand there”
or “Sit on the floor by my feet,”
have you not discriminated among yourselves
and become judges with evil thoughts?
For if a person with gold rings and in fine clothes
comes into your assembly,
and if a poor person in dirty clothes
also comes in,
and if you take notice
of the one wearing the fine clothes
and say,
Have a seat here, please,”
while to the one who is poor you say,
“Stand there,”
or, “Sit at my feet,”
have you not made distinctions among yourselves,
and become judges with evil thoughts?
For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing
comes into your assembly,
and a poor man in shabby clothing
also comes in,
and if you pay attention
to the one who wears the fine clothing
and say,
“You sit here in a good place,”
while you say to the poor man,
“You stand over there,”
or, “Sit down at my feet,”
have you not then made distinctions among yourselves
and become judges with evil thoughts?
For if someone comes into your meeting
wearing a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes,
and a poor person dressed in filthy clothes
also comes in,
if you look with favor
on the one wearing the fine clothes
and say,
“Sit here in a good place,”
and yet you say to the poor person,
“Stand over there,”
or “Sit here on the floor by my footstool,”
haven’t you made distinctions among yourselves
and become judges with evil thoughts?
For if someone comes into your assembly
wearing a gold ring and fine clothing,
and a poor person enters
in filthy clothes,
do you pay attention
to the one who is finely dressed
and say,
“You sit here in a good place,”
and to the poor person,
“You stand over there,”
or “Sit on the floor”?
If so, have you not made distinctions among yourselves
and become judges with evil motives?
